Angan A Konkan Community
Community Housing — Guhaghar, MH — 2026
Project Information
Situated within the dispersed settlement fabric of Guhagar, the project draws inspiration from the traditional Konkan village, where homes emerge among orchards, dense vegetation, and undulating terrain. Rather than imposing a rigid layout, the planning follows the natural character of the site, allowing the settlement to grow organically with its surroundings.
A network of narrow, shaded pathways connects the homes, creating opportunities for everyday encounters and a sense of community. Semi open otlas and verandahs extend domestic life into the shared landscape, blurring the boundaries between private homes and public spaces. These thresholds become places for conversations, pauses, and informal gatherings.
Shared courtyards, intimate gardens, and open to sky spaces bring light, air, and vegetation into the heart of the settlement. Rooted in the climate and cultural memory of the Konkan, the architecture encourages a slower rhythm of living, where homes, pathways, and shared spaces become part of an evolving relationship between people and place.
